Led light bug zapper Review

cordless bug zapper

A LED light bug zapper is a device that combines a LED light source with a bug zapper feature to attract and eliminate insects.

Traditional bug zappers use UV light to attract insects, but LED light bug zappers utilize LED technology instead.

LED Light Bug Zapper Wavelength of Light

LED light bug zappers work by emitting a specific wavelength of light that is attractive to insects.

The insects are lured towards the light source, and when they come into contact with an electric grid or a high-voltage wire mesh, they are electrocuted and killed.

Why I Purchased the LED Light Bug Zapper

Every summer, we face a big problem with gnats getting into our house.

We live out in the countryside, surrounded by trees and a pond, so it’s really important to have zappers in most rooms to keep the gnats in check.

I’ve talked before about the bigger zappers I’ve tried out. To see that review, click here. What I love about this smaller bug zapper is how it fits just right on my desk.

It’s super annoying when gnats buzz around my computer. But this little zapper, with its LED light, really does the trick.

It sits on my desk, drawing the gnats in and taking care of them for me.

Gnat Population Down Since using the LED Light Bug Zapper

I need to mention that this bug zapper doesn’t completely solve the gnat problem, but it definitely reduces it.

I think the effectiveness varies based on your location and the number of these pesky critters lurking around your home

Our place is surrounded by woods and a pond, which is like a paradise for gnats. For larger homes, I’d recommend having a mix of both large and small zappers to catch them as they come in.

While I don’t face a major gnat issue near my desk anymore, they haven’t been eradicated entirely.

However, this device does a solid job of zapping them when they venture too close to my workspace.

It might not be the sole reason the gnat numbers are down, but it’s definitely an effective tool in our overall battle against them.

Sometimes, you might need a couple of these devices, especially if your house tends to attract a lot of gnats and other flying bugs.

The LED Light Bug Zapper Lasts for Hours

LED light bug zappers offer several advantages over traditional bug zappers. LED lights are more energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan compared to UV bulbs.

LED technology also provides flexibility in terms of color and intensity, allowing manufacturers to design bug zappers with different lighting options.

I can leave it on throughout the night and it stays on until morning. So that’s about 8 hours. This can be used for indoor and outdoor.

How The LED Light Bug Zapper Works

You just charge it up with the USB cord that comes with the bug zapper. I prefer using an adapter to plug it into the wall.

Just so you know, the adapter isn’t included with the bug zapper. But, if you want, you can also just plug it into your computer to charge. It’s pretty easy either way.

I switch between using this device while it’s plugged in and using it unplugged at different times.

Bug Zapper is Safe to Use

Additionally, LED light bug zappers are typically safer than traditional bug zappers.

They operate at lower voltages and have protective grills or cages around the electric grid, reducing the risk of accidental contact for humans and larger animals.

When considering a LED light bug zapper, it’s essential to choose a model suitable for your needs.

Factors to consider include the coverage area, power source (battery-operated or electric), and the level of insect activity in your area.

It’s also important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safe and effective use of the bug zapper.
